JOIN THE INNOVATIVE SCHOOLS ACTIVITY

Innovative Schools : preparing students for the 21st century

In collaboration with Bureau for Development of Education, PEP is organizing workshops for school professional development teams to familiarize them with new PEP publications: the “Manual for the 21st Century Classroom” and “Manual for Creating the Learning Environment”. Participants will also be introduced to the “Toolbox” online portal http://toolbox.pep.org.mk.

The participants of the workshops will also be invited to apply for additional support as an Innovative School, a learning community with a focus on individual student achievement and school effectiveness.

What do you need to do to join the Innovative Schools activity and receive support?

The basic criteria for schools to be accepted in the Innovative School activity are:

  • To apply new knowledge and skills in their every day teaching practice;
  • To participate in the PEP certification procedure;
  • To be regular visitors and users of the new designed online portal “Toolbox”
  • To be willing to submit evidence of innovative school activities (lesson plans, video film of classroom activities, case studies, action research etc.)

The main condition for applying for this PEP support is to prepare, implement and evaluate a professional development plan as part of the annual school plan.

The professional development plan should be focused on enhancing teaching and learning practices to increase student achievement and prepare them for the 21st century.  Innovative schools should plan activities which are structured around key 21st century curriculum and teaching and learning approaches and create a positive atmosphere for applying it.

PEP, working with BDE advisors, will continuously provide the support and assistance to schools through various activities for professional development regarding their needs. Support and information will also be provided through the online portal “Toolbox” . This will help schools to implement their professional development plan and to put into practice the behaviors and processes that lead to successful change and improvement.

Using the principles of continuous improvement, there will be support for on-going teacher collaboration, planning and shared leadership; embedded professional development, mentoring; monitoring and feedback. In addition, PEP will help schools to address issues and concerns that inevitably occur during the change process.
