Memorandum of Understanding signed between USAID
and the Ministry of Education

On April 18, in Primary School Vlado Tasevski in Skopje, USAID Primary Education Project (PEP) and the Ministry of Education and Science signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The aim of the official signing ceremony was to celebrate the agreement on close cooperation between these two institutions and to demonstrate their partnership for improving primary education.

The MOU was signed by USAID Mission Director (MD), Patricia Rader, the Minister for education and Science, Sulejman Rushiti, the BDE Director Vesna Horvatovich and the USAID PEP CoP, Keith Prenton.

“As partners—our shared goal is to make sure students are competent in solving practical problems.  To make sure students are computer-literate.  To make sure students have relevant learning skills and can work independently and cooperatively,” said USAID Mission Director, Patricia Rader. “Both USAID and the Ministry of Education and Science are committed to providing high-quality primary education.  We agree that this is the foundation for economic growth, social cohesion, democracy and respect for human rights,” she added.

Representatives from USAID, the international community, and local PEP partners, as well as representatives from the Ministry and the BDI were invited. The event was covered by all national print and electronic media.
The ceremony ended with refreshments prepared by students from the Skopje Catering School.
