Assessment Notebook for Teachers

On 19th December 2007, USAID’s Primary Education Project promoted its “Assessment Notebook” for Macedonia’s teachers during an official reception at the PEP office. This teacher-friendly notebook is promoting school based assessment standards and is also a practical tool for teachers to use in planning their assessment duties. The booklet is printed in Macedonian and Albanian languages. The illustrations in the book were drawn by Macedonia’s famous cartoonist Darko Markovic.

“The aim of our component is to set up new standards for school based assessment, and at the same time make the student assessment process more transparent and fairer. Assessment usually brings out uncomfortable associations within most of us. In order to help change that, we created this booklet; it is intended to remind teachers through interesting text and attaractive drawings how to assess students“, stated Gorica Mickovska who is leading the assessment component within PEP.

Following the event, Darko Markovic held a Cartoon Workshop at the PEP Training Centre for students from Jan Amos Komenski primary school.
The students were thrilled to receive instruction and practical demonstration from such a famous cartoonist.
