“USAID introduces ICT to Music Teachers”
On March 25th 2008, USAID’s Primary Education Project PEP organized the first ICT in Music Workshop for primary school teachers in Macedonia. The workshop was held in QSI International School, Skopje. 17 music teachers from all over Macedonia attended, including teachers from PEP ICT pilot schools. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the BDE advisor for music education. Teachers were shown how to use freely available music software, exploring its features and learning how the computer can make arranging and composing of music accessible to all students. The PEP team believes that using technology resources in music education will motivate more students to learn music and will prepare specialist music students for the 21st Century world, where there is established and growing use of technology in the music profession. What music teachers said about the workshop: “After many years, I’m feeling glad to be a music teacher here in Macedonia. This is the first time, somebody got an idea, to tell us what’s new in the area of music education. I hope that this will continue”- Tihomir Neashmik. “It was about time to introduce some innovations in music education” - Kostadin Cvetanov. “The workshop was great! I’m impressed by the new technologies which can develop the students’ creativity and positive attitudes toward music education. We are eagerly waiting the next workshops” – Daniel Curkovski “The workshop was fantastic. I learned many new things. I’m very glad to be part of this training” – Nina Momirovska.
