USAID presents Macedonia’s school-based assessment progress in Slovenia

On March 12 and 13, Gorica Mickovska, leader of the Assessment component of USAID’s Primary Education Project (PEP ) was one of the three key note speakers at the international conference “Assessment that encourages learning”, in Celje Slovenia. Mrs Mickovska was invited to speak by the Institute for Education of the Republic of Slovenia. Addressing approximately 400 participants, she presented the concept of assessment for learning that is implemented in USAID’s PEP and described assessment activities that have been undertaken in Macedonia. During the follow up discussion, comparison between a similar project in Slovenia and PEP was made. The conclusion was that there are lots of similarities, as well as some country specifics. Both countries are moving in the same direction by improving assessment on the basis of contemporary knowledge, in order to support students learning and improve achievement.
