USAID PEP celebrates the 500th teacher
to complete its certification process
On 18th February 2010, a certification ceremony for celebrating the 500th teacher to complete PEP’s certification process took place in the “Mirce Acev” primary school in the Municipality of Gjorce Petrov.
Through its certification process, PEP aims to increase the impact of its training workshops by establishing a system of continuous professional development. To receive a certificate, teachers must provide evidence, through a professional portfolio, that they are implementing the new skills and knowledge, gained from PEP interventions, including improvement the quality of instruction and increase the employment skills of students.

“We do not award certificates to teachers simply for attending a workshop. Instead we recognize those teachers who worked to implement new approaches into their lessons,” said Keith Prenton, USAID PEP CoP. “Changing the way we work is not
an easy thing, it is like taking a step into the unknown. Change requires courage as well as knowledge. But whether we like it or not, our society and our technology is changing and we owe it to our children to ensure they are prepared for the 21st Century.”
The Mayor of Gjorce Petrov, Sokol Mitrevski and Keith Prenton presented the certificates to the 20 teachers from Mirce Acev school.
So far over 550 teachers from 49 schools have completed the certification procedure.

PEP congratulates all the certificated teachers and wishes them further success in their future professional career.
We encourage other teachers to complete the certification procedure, which could prove valuable for their future professional career.
