IT Minister attends PEP ICT Workshop
Following the successful introduction of Student Support Technician Clubs (SSTCs) in Macedonia’s primary schools, PEP will provide additional training to enable them to maintain the Linux-based computers introduced into schools by the Macedonian government.
From 17-19 February, PEP organized a workshop in Skopje for the master trainers who will train the teachers that work with the SSTCs.
Minister for the Information Society, Ivo Ivanovski, visited the workshop on its final day to talk with the master trainers and emphasize the importance of their work in caring for the government’s investment. He also stressed the importance of developing 21st century skills in the students.
„This workshop is of huge importance of us because we work together on d
eveloping new skills in the students, that will help them find better jobs,” said Minister Ivo Ivanovski.
During the next few months, the master trainers will train two teachers from every primary school. These teachers coordinate and organize the work of the SSTCs in their schools and they will subsequently train the student members of the clubs using a SSTC Linux Manual, which has been prepared by PEP. The manual will also be available in electronic form for all students in Macedonia.
Approximately 5000 students are involved in the SSTCs throughout Macedonia. If you have any questions about the SSTCs, please contact our ICT in Education Coordinator at pnikoloski@pep.org.mk .
