First PEP Phase 3 schools renovated

USAID/PEP Renovations Component officially inaugurated Phase 3 in September 2008. All municipalities and schools in Macedonia were given chance to submit their application packages. Renovations Working Group reviewed all submitted application packages (98 packages from 64 municipalities) and selected 36 schools that will be renovated till September 2009. A total of 15,904 students and around 1,212 teachers will benefit from these renovations. Windows replacement, central heating systems and roof reconstructions are considered as most necessary by the schools and municipalities.

Since the opening of the Phase 3, Renovations Component did actual renovation in 5 Primary Schools:

  • PS “26 July” – Suto Orizari
  • PS “Vera Ciriviri Trena” – Karpos
  • PS “Aleksandar Zdravkovski” – Jegunovce
  • PS “Liria” – Gostivar
  • PS “Goce Delcev” – Centar

Old broken and rotten windows in all 5 schools were replaced with new aluminium energy efficient windows. Total budget spent for these renovations is around 5,066,391 MKD or approximately for each school around 1,013,278.
