“PIPPIN” MAKES MATHEMATICS FUN FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

Zaklina Ristevska and Fatima Ali, teachers at the Primary School, Zivko Brajkovski in Skopje, were struggling to introduce new technologies into their classroom. Often, they would spend evenings on their home computers trying to identify activities which they could use with their lower grade students. All this changed after PEP donated a “PIPPIN” educational robot to their school. As experienced teachers, they quickly saw the educational value that Pippin had to offer.
“My students love when we use the Pippin. They love how we can use the Pippin to tell a story “– Zaklina Ristevska says – “It has significantly changed my approach to teaching. The Pippin helps the students develop higher level thinking skills and helps them find alternative solutions to the problem” –she adds. Zaklina and Fatima’s school is one of 131 schools which received different types of educational equipment from PEP.
“With the younger children we can integrate different subjects together. The Pippin has helped us make such integration more interesting and appealing to younger students”, Fatima said. “
Marina Vasileva, a class teacher from the Primary School Kiril and Metodij in Skopje, also has positive experience in using PIPPIN and the computer.
“In order to provide a qualitative link between the world in which we live and learning about that world, our school uses modern technology in teaching. Six years ago, His Excellency the “Computer”, arrived in our classroom and immediately raised the interest and motivation of the students. They were eager to learn and explore with motivation for working and designing their own activity or product. And there is no need, of course, to explain the satisfaction of their parents when they saw the impact of the computer on the students achievements at the end of the day”, Marina concluded.
