End of a successful ‘PEP ROAD SHOW’!

In April 2009, PEP conducted a Road Show across Macedonia to publicize the mid-point of the project and consult stakeholders on project progress. PEP invited all school principals and local mayors to local meetings, and organized displays, regional science fairs and related competitions, as well as a workshop for School Support Teams from every school which strengthen and monitor project impact.

Beginning in Skopje, PEP staff spent a day in seven regional cities: Veles, Struga, Prilep, Stip, Strumica, Kumanovo, and Gostivar with a final stop in Skopje for those schools and municipalities that missed the first event. The road show registered great interest with over 1, 000 participants attending, including school directors, BDE advisors, municipal officials, sponsors, journalists, and students attended. In most locations, local TV was there to interview PEP staff and report the activities

The first item of each day was a plenary session with an update on PEP, a presentation of a video film on PEP'S achievements with a Q& A session, presentation of Certificates to PEP facilitators, and a presentation by the PEP “Green Schools”. The plenary session offered a great opportunity for PEP’s staff to have a direct feedback from schools. One participant commented that in the past ten years, she has never seen a project which openly involved schools in this way. She strongly encouraged her colleagues and schools directors to be involved in the Project, as she has seen great benefits in doing so.

At the following Project Exhibition, guests could see component presentations and displays of ICT & Science equipments donated to schools. Winners of the School Science Competition presented a demonstration of their winning project. The final item of the road show was a dynamic workshop for School Support Teams, with active group work, report back and evaluation.

A number of sponsors supported the Road Show by providing prizes, and publicity materials etc. These included: Trimax, Microsoft, Ultra, Net, DDS Computers, KabTel and Euronetcom.
