PEP touch all Macedonian Primary Schools
First Cycle of Math & Science Training Completed

On 28 September, PEP reached a project milestone when PEP facilitators delivered the last training workshop from the first two-days training cycle.

Starting from September 2007 well over 2000 mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and geography teachers from all Macedonian primary schools attended workshops for improving teaching and learning in their respective subjects. From 2,500 teachers from upper primary grades that were invited to workshops, well over 90% of teachers completed the training.

Those teachers who implement their newly gained knowledge in their classrooms can undergo PEP’s certification process which involves completing a professional portfolio and demonstrating their competency in using modern, active teaching methods.  Already 150 teachers have completed this process and received certificates.

PEP is currently finalizing preparations for a new two-days training cycle that will start In November. The content of this new training cycle will be:

  • Project and problem-based learning;

  • 21st century skills in science and geography;

  • Strategies for cooperative and differentiated teaching and learning;

  • Experiments with low-cost materials in teaching science;

  • Strategies for solving mathematical tasks.

All mathematics and science teachers will be invited on this new training cycle. If you missed the first cycle for some reason please contact isasanski@pep.org.mk and we will ensure you receive support materials from the first cycle and an invitation to the second cycle.
